This past winter, students in NEIT’s Video Game Design and Development (VGDD) program had a real-world experience of a lifetime when the Newport Naval War College’s (NWC) Center for Cyber-Conflict Studies (C3S) sponsored a video game design charrette – a collective brainstorming process – with real world application. More than 40 students enrolled for the opportunity to pitch real-time strategic-operational level game concepts to a panel of five judges, with the best designs meant for a prototype game to be developed.

The selected concepts were then examined by a faculty team from the NWC’s Center for Cyber-Conflict Studies. The result of the C3S team’s review was a new composite game design concept loosely based on components of the students’ games. The new concept – known as F.I.T.E., Futuristic Intelligent Tactical Equipment – is the basis for the next charrette. The result of this event will be the development of a playable prototype to be used by the Naval War College for training Naval Officers in strategic cyber security problem-solving.

NEIT offers a range of associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Information Technology, including a bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security and Network Engineering. Learn more about how you can turn your passion into a great career at www.neit.edu.
